Voices of Venezuela: History, Heritage, and Song featuring Maria Brea, soprano and Felix Jarrar, piano collaborator

Voices is a four-part original opera Salon series that brings internationally celebrated artists into intimate spaces where music and storytelling confront the human and civil rights issues shaping our world today. Each program gives voice to communities whose histories, struggles, triumphs, and identities deserve not only recognition, but dignity.

The series begins with Voices of Venezuela: History, Heritage, and Song featuring Maria Brea, soprano and Felix Jarrar, piano collaborator. The evening is an  intimate exploration of Venezuelan history, identity, displacement, and cultural pride through song, poetry, and personal narrative.

Internationally acclaimed Venezuelan-American soprano Maria Brea brings radiant vocal beauty, emotional depth, and extraordinary dramatic presence to this intimate performance. A graduate of The Juilliard School, Brea has appeared on many of the world’s most celebrated stages, including Carnegie Hall, the Metropolitan Opera, and Palais Garnier in Paris. Praised for her “luxurious polish” and “virtuosity,” her artistry reflects both technical brilliance and profound humanity.

Felix Jarrar has more than 275 compositions to his name, Jarrar collaborates with leading opera companies and institutions throughout the United States and most recently served with the Florida Grand Opera. His work was featured on the 2024 GRAMMY®-nominated album 40@40.
