Join us at NSU’s Alvin Sherm Elizabeth Pizzarello, author, Eclipsed: A Sighted Woman’s Journey into Blindness and the Miraculous Surgery that Restored Her Sight Decades Later does a reading from her book and answers questions from the audience.
Her memoir is a meditation on the profound gift of sight & the unexpected journey she went on at age 22. Following her devastating diagnosis of retinitis pigmentosa, the disease led to her eventual blindness before the age of forty. This thrusted her into a different life, a different tribe, a different mindset than the one she was acculturated to when she had sight. Decades later state of the art surgery restored partial sight in one eye. The book discusses the realities of coping with disabilities. Her objective is to inspire all those who experience big life challenges to dig down deep. To find the power within to confront these experiences. She wants to encourage every listener to become the hero of their own stories.
Elizabeth has appeared on podcasts and speaks at events across South Florida. Audiences love her empathy and upbeat look on life. She strives to bring hope to all people regardless of their situation or circumstances.
