Didier Castell-Jacomin, piano, Steinway Artist

In an original concert entitled “Plus fort que la haine” or “Love is Stronger than Hate” This Salon features the United States debut of Maestro Castell-Jacomin and an original composition by the Dutch composer V. Bracco. This piece is a tribute to the life of Matthew Shepard, a gay male student at the University of Wyoming Laramie, savagely murdered and left tied to a fence in 1998.

Born in Marseille, Didier began the piano at the age of four and at about ten he met Georgy Cziffra at Senlis. His recent collaboration with Paul Badura-Skoda, ended after a recital in four hands in Maastricht, was a turning point in his career.  The young pianist made his debut at the Philharmonie of Berlin with the soloists of the chamber orchestra of the Philharmonie for a program completely dedicated to Mozart, fortunately, saved for posterity as a historic CD. Didier is a renowned pianist who has performed on most of the world’s most famous stages. His debut at the Berlin Philharmonie led to invitations to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and numerous major venues in London, Brussels, and Spain.  Didier was invited to be the featured guest artist with the Baden-Baden Philharmonie in Germany, the New Year Festival in Gstaad, Switzerland, and in France at Salle Cortot and at the Théâtre de Athénée.
